received on June 14, 2008 the makers of SEnuke inform:
Yesterday
afternoon I received a phone call from Seth Godin the owner of
Squidoo. Seth spoke with me about concerns he had about
SEnuke auto-creating lenses on his website which he has informed me is
now against Squidoo\'s Terms of Service.
SEnuke was working on the ability to add various modules to the auto
creation process so that more quality content could be added to the
lens when with our software.
Seth told me that Squidoo only wants manually created lenses no matter
how good the content or the quality of the lens.
Although I mentioned to Seth that in my opionion as a Squidoo user a
lens should be judged solely on its content regardless of how it was
posted he did not agree.
Therefore, although we are not legally obligated to remove the auto
lens creation from SEnuke we have still decided to honor Seths request
and do so.
My reasons for this are ethically based and also because I respect Seth
for the brilliant marketer he is.
Will this diminish the effectiveness of SEnuke? No and here
is why.
First of all, we will be replacing Squidoo with a few other high PR Web
2.0 sites such as Clipmarks and Associated Content...others will follow.
If at anytime SEnuke finds a Web 2.0 website is losing its
effectiveness it will be immediately replaced with another high PR Web
2.0 site.
If you have been reading our blog and have seen just how fast Areeb
responds and
implements feature requests and bug fixes you know you can be rest
assured that SEnuke will always remain effective!
Does this mean that you should not include Squidoo in your promotional
efforts. No way! Think about it... with all the
time you are saving by automating submission
to all the other places SEnuke submits to you surely have enough time
to maunally create and manage your lens.
In fact, you could manually build a lens and then link to it in your
submissions or even submit the RSS feed to the RSS aggregators and
Social BookMarking sites.
